Ana Boa-VenturaWith a BSc in Biology and an MA in Science of Education (Educational Technology), Ana works in social media studies and digital storytelling and is very interested in cross-cultural design of the user’s experience. She was a consultant for SEBRAE [BR] and for Austin Technology Incubator [US], on virtual community projects, and rebranding and redesign for Web 2.0. Ana works with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Duke University and the National University in San Diego on Digital Humanities. She has been connected to the Moving Cause project since day one. |
Ana Rego She is an activist physician with amazing experience in developing countries: she has had missions in Afghanistan, Sudan, Ethiopia, East Timor, Zimbabwe and she has travelled the world. Besides her healthcare expertise, while working for worldwide recognized NGO’s, Ana has had the chance to learn a lot about the management and logistics side of cooperation projects. She is a brilliant doctor photographer who wants to play an active role in education for better health. |
Bárbara Rego | BlogShe has her degree in Journalism and Communication and lived one year in Brazil, through Socrates programme, where she had the opportunity of working in social marketing, in a country where most large organizations are concerned with adopting social responsibility policies. She also worked in the Brazilian TV channel Globo as communication advisor, and conducted volunteer work in the poor ghetos – the ‘favelas’ – of Rio de Janeiro. She has always been a person of causes but since her stay in Brazil she found the motivation to start moving them ahead. She is a great writer and is doing her Masters in International Relations and Cooperation at the University of Porto. |
Inês Carvalho | BlogShe is a creative Agronomy Engineer and now doing her MSc in Services Engineering and Management at the University of Porto. She is an artist too: piano player and astonishing singer. She was a visiting scholar in Plant breeding and Genetic at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and also as a consultant for a small-medium chocolate business in Porto, leading the company to a period of great success. Undoubtedly, she is a valuable manager. |
Joana Costa | BlogShe has studied Microbiology but her aspirations, seriously!, are macro: Joana is a visionary about ecology and sustainable development. After being involved in “Tierra del Niño” project, in the Amazon forest of Peru, she decided to start a green project in the Portuguese countryside. Joana’s sense of morality and will power can show us a different perspective for finding solutions. |
Maria Sottomayor | BlogAn artist, a painter, who has studied in Slovenia, and has long travelled in India. Maria’s sensitivity and wisdom make her a terrific writer. She has also management experience as she has been working in a Hostel and in a Wine’s Lodge in the Portuguese countryside. |
Marisa GonçalvesShe is an Economist , who has lived in Germany, and who is a Master in Social Development. Marisa’s know-how reaches from politics, to anthropology and sociology. She has also been involved in some micro credit projects in East Timor, and she’s there right now teaching Economy and Management at the National University. Marisa is a serene woman with an interesting social and cultural profile. |
Sara Moreira | BlogSara is a Computer Engineer who has lived in The Netherlands, and who has always been involved in cross-disciplinary projects. She has taught about technology in the National University of East Timor, where she had the opportunity to learn about social entrepreneurship projects. Since she went back to Portugal, Sara has built a broad network of people sharing similar interests on SE and the digital divide. She has a Masters about the challenges of technology and the impact of change when implementing an e-Learning tool in East Timor. She is also a volunteer author for GlobalVoicesOnline.org. |
Zulmira Ximenes CostaShe has studied Physics and Mathematics in East Timor, and she has recently been awarded a scholarship for a Masters in Statistics in the University of Evora. While still in Timor, Zulmira was an assistant professor for Maths & Algebra courses, and the administrative person for the Portuguese Cooperation project at the National University. Zulmira is a great woman, a good friend, and a promising role model for her nation’s rebuilding. |
